Asset Dynamics and Top Energy partner on ‘game-changing’ data solution

Asset Dynamics has announced today that it will provide data health monitoring and asset information governance services to Top Energy, the electricity distributor for the Far North.

The deal will see Top Energy adopt DataFrame, the flagship data health solution developed by infrastructure consultancy, Asset Dynamics.

DataFrame is an innovative technology solution that seeks to improve data quality in the infrastructure sector. By providing infrastructure managers with near real-time feedback on asset management data risks and opportunities, DataFrame enables critical improvements to be prioritised and delivered.

Top Energy CIO Gordon Ramsay said good data health was crucial to making good decisions.

“In our industry, you simply can’t afford to be questioning the quality of your data. Having timely access to accurate, complete and consistent data is key to making good decisions around things like maintenance, investment and resourcing.”

He said the DataFrame solution would be applied to monitor the quality of high-priority data captured across the asset lifecycle. This information will be reviewed monthly by Top Energy’s asset management and information subject matter experts to make decisions about improvements.

Asset Dynamics Director Andrew Gatland said DataFrame was a game changer for complex organisations with mission-critical assets.

“Just as it’s vital to understand the health of your assets, it’s absolutely crucial to have a clear picture of your data health.”

Despite this, he said international research showed that only about a quarter of asset managers had full confidence in the accuracy of their organisation’s asset information.

“The simple fact is that organisations with high levels of data health make better asset management decisions, and with higher levels of confidence. That’s what DataFrame delivers.

“This not only results in the right work being completed on the right assets at the right time, but can help ensure the safety of workers and the public, maintain legislative compliance, and better meet customer expectations.”

Gatland said Asset Dynamics were currently in talks with a number of infrastructure organisations over adopting DataFrame, and was hoping to make more announcements soon.

Callaghan grant secured

The Top Energy project comes soon after Asset Dynamics’ announcement that it had secured a Callaghan Innovation Ārohia Seed Grant to validate the DataFrame solution in other infrastructure sectors.

The Ārohia Seed Grant will be used by Asset Dynamics to gather evidence on the commercial feasibility and viability of the DataFrame solution across a range of infrastructure sectors in New Zealand and Australia. It will also enable work to be completed on the solution architecture to support scalability.
